So it’s been awhile since I used my m50s. A couple years ago, I put David Clark gel pads on them since the stock ones were flaking. Recently, I got back into them. I noticed the soundstage seemed off a little…more overpowering mids and less detail than I remember…was it due to the gel pads??
I decided to pull the cups away and press the cups to my head to see how the sound changed. Well, smashing them onto my head led to the sound I remembered lol. More neutrality and detail.
I am pretty sure these DCs are thicker than stock and that led to the phenomenon. They do block a little more sound, but I still want to change them out as I don’t like the sweaty feeling after wearing them awhile. I’m looking for recommendations on ear pads that are close to stock thickness and maybe suede or velour…something not sticky or sweaty when worn for awhile.
What do you recommend?
