Somehow this feels like a stupid question, but I'll still ask it

I just ordered the Audio Technica ATH-ANC7 from Amazon. I will use it with my Zune. Question is, should I buy a portable amp to go with it? I'm thinking about the Xin.

You can get by without it but everything you do to your train will increase your enjoyment. As far as efficiency the ANC7 is built for these types of devices.

They're pretty efficient and sound decent without an amp when noise canceling is turned on. They really need an amp if the noise canceling circuitry turned off, and even then, the sound signature sort of goes to hell anyway. Basically, leave them turned on.
