Anyone tried this? If so, are the pads thicker than the ad2000 pads? Thick enough to keep the drivers off your ears? Gracias!

Tag. I am interested in trying the A2000X pads on my AD2000 too.

Do you actually own these or run to audition at a headphone store frequently?

haha
i did the phatpad mod except i left out an inch and a half of the pad at the front so that the drivers would angle in a little more.
Beautiful effect.
These have won over my w11 jpns in my heart. Much love!
..however having the AD2000s in your rig requires owning another pair to contrast and balance it out.
I'm going for the W100 with W5000 drivers.

Kinda OT, but where do you buy the W100? Just doing a quick google can't find them. Nor Audio-Cubes/2, PriceJapan.

Oh well I'll call until somebody answers the phone. I'd love if these pads were just thick enough to keep the drivers off the ears so I could do away with cheap looking mods. Also annoying how I have to shave the pads once in awhile with my electric razor to get the fuzz off lol.

They should fit since they have the same size 53mm driver, and the pads are a bit deeper than the stock pads.
I have a pair of the 2000x pads, and they fit on my L3000, although they are a bit tighter than the original pads.

I didn't like the sound though, putting the pads on makes everything sound boxed in, which was the exact same issue I had when I stuffed something inside my W5000 pads to make them comfortable.

I bought them from someone in the FS forums
haha yeah you can't buy a w100 with W5000 drivers anywhere really
and the w100s are discontinued

phatpad mod has to be more cost effective than replacement pads that may or may not be thicker than ad2k originals. surely that is a "no brainer" ?

It's not just about cheaper. I already have the pad mod and I like it. The new pads would hopefully do the same thing while also possibly being more comfortable and sexy without the home-made looking add-on. I can't help but thinking "that's not really supposed to be there" when I see the foam strip. It's not a big deal.

have done my phatpad mod now . used some 10mm thick soft cord/rope bought from diy store.
works a treat, comfort wise.
will take a while to assess any sound changes!
