Yes. I kind of want to try open air headphones (never listened to any before), particularly Grados. Maybe someone wants to trade me their Grados for some A900s for a week or so.

Grados are definitely a can to try though.

It would not surprise me if they were very good or very close in a comparison between these two.

I just checked and these are now out of production, the ATH-A1000s.

They've been OOP for years now. That's why the 900ltd was made, to fill the void.

The only impressions I've read about their sound have been in Japanese.

If you search around you should be able to find impressionsons the A1000. The A1000 was released back in 2003 to be a higher end model of the A900. If I remember correctly, the A900 sounds very close to the A1000 in everyway. If the A900LTD is a significant improvement over the A900, then the A900LTD probably will sound better than the A1000.
