Would a pair of AT's compliment a pair of HD650, or are they similar in sonic style? I've heard that the AT's sound amazing and have excellent synergy with my amp (Graham Slee Solo), but I already have a pair of 650's.

What are the characteristics of the AT's?

Frequency response of the AD900... get a ruler and rule a straight line, then add a gentle roll off to the bass

Imo they are very neutral. Not bright nor dark, a little forward, huge soundstage. Probably somewhere between the HD650 and a Grado?

Most people tend to avoid the AD1000 as apparently it just sounds similar to the AD900 but a bit colder.

TMM, have you heard the ad2000s? how does it compare with the ad900? bass/mids/highs balance, timbre, speed, dynamics, musicality, Prat, ETC...

I have both the HD650 and AD900 sitting on my desk. One is for music and one is for gaming. The AD900 would compliment the HD650 rather well if you didn't have an amp. With a good amp the HD650 is on a whole different level of headphone bliss. I'd only use the AD900 if I really wanted to feel the vocals. By comparison the HD650 sounds veiled. Perhaps an AKG701 might be a better choice?

Unfortunately I haven't. I really hope they are similar though, because if the AD2000 was like the AD900, but a bit better at everything, and maybe a tad more bass... it would be my dream headphone!

wow, its really hard to get people in headfi that have heard both the ad900 and the 2k. It would really be good information for many buyers thinking about what more they would get for the extra 300 dollars spent. I have the ad2ks but haven't heard the ad900s and a friend of mine is thinking about getting the ad900 if it sounded close to the ad2k. hmmm wonder who would know
