I'm buying a pair of HD 650's and was wondering which of these two sound cards to get, the ASUS Xonar Essence STX or the ST?

I believe the Essence ST (PCI) is very slightly better then the Essence STX (PCI-Express).
You can also get a separate card from Asus that allows the ST to work with 5.1 or 7.1 analog speakers.
As PCI will lose out to PCI-Express in the future, get the Essence STX.
