I'm pretty bad at reading the specs and understanding it. Could someone tell me if this card is going to have a good SPDIF out to my amp's SPDIF?

Also what do u guys think of this card? I have the $200 to buy it and I'm willing.

Thanks

If your going SPDIF the your amp is doing all the conversion. Buying a $200 card for SPDIF output may be a waste of cash when you can get cheaper cards that do the same thing. Such as the Sondigo Inferno etc. For analog sound quality the XOnar is a great card. Hope that helps.

Yeah, the card is overkill if you want to use it for just for SPDIF out, but i've been using it for my SR-225s(where it is surprisingly good) and my sennheiser gaming headset(for voice chat) and it is excellent. Have also run the analog out to my preamp and then speakers and while not quite as good as the spitfire, it does sound good.

Its is a great card for SPDIF if you are gaming, as it has DDL and DTS Connect support.

So does that mean I can have my PC game's 5.1 channel audio output through SPDIF on the Xonar D2 to my Denon AVR?

I just realized that normal SPDIF is only STEREO, and seems only Dolby Digital Live can get me 5.1 on my home theater sets.

At least on Vista64 the drivers were a bit of a let down (understatement). Frequent sound glitches and a loud(ish) pop when ever I start playback make me rank it below X-fi.

I also tried the beta drivers from Asus site, they completely destroyed ASIO playback and didn't cure the glitches in DS mode either. It's hard to believe but I think the current Creative drivers for Vista64 are far superior, at least on my system.

I'm not sure about VISTA64, but my newly installed card (yesterday) worked smoothly on my VISTA32.

I'm attaching the card to my Sony STR-DA3200ES by SPDIF, using Dolby Digital Live to play my PC game with 5.1 sound, and my AKG K240 to the analog out for music.

I love my HTPC... haha...
