Just got my Mixamp yesterday. I watched an episode of Firefly and ran around in Borderlands for a bit with my Senn HD497. Cool piece of kit; smooth damping action on the knobs, a click-stop at 50/50 on the mix knob, decent sound so far and plenty of drive for my 497s (32 ohm/112 db).
I noticed a bit of channel imbalance at low volumes as noted in other threads. Easy fix by turning the mix knob to 3 o'clock (toward voice), and raising the master volume above the imbalance point (around 9 o'clock).
There's a lot of suggestions for good headphone choices elsewhere, especially the excellent thread started by Mad Lust Envy. My curiosity is more what headphone other Mixamp owners use as their primary cans and the relative location of the volume and mix settings for comfortable but insistent levels.
I'll start:
Sennheiser HD497
Volume: 9 o'clock (which is low, but my hearing is sensitive)
Mix: 3 o'clock
