AK300 plays an audio stream of 44.1 kHz on the DAC is not direct. AK300 uses resampling. This is evidenced by the aliasing graph.

AK300 have AK4490 DAC. AK4490 DAC have five presets digital filter. it's Sharp, Slow, Short Sharp, Short Slow and Super Slow. Aliasing graph from AK300 dues not similar to them presets.

AK300 have a similar graph as KANN

if KANN connect to USB (as USB-DAC) digital filter works default preset Short Sharp. SRC off from Astell&Kern.

SRC does not off in AK300 with connect to USB.

Quality of SRC is good. SRC have not visible distortions. Probably, sound stream 44.1 kHz upsample to 174 kHz. This algorithm replace path algorithm of digital filter from DAC.

if external dac connect to spdif to AK300, soundstream out is correct without SRC.

I’m sure this has been answered elsewhere in the thread, but I’m unable to find the answer.

I got a mojo last week, to use with my AK300 and LCD-X’s, and I absolutely love how it improves that pairing.

My problem is that it misses the first couple of seconds of each track, every single time. It’s bad enough that I’m considering returning the mojo if there isn’t a solution

I connect to mojo via optical cable

When I connect the mojo to my MacBook Pro there is no problem. Has anyone else experienced this strange issue ?

Thanks
Yup, it also happened to me. I connect my ak300 to ifi micro through optical. Havent tried through usb tho. Its a bit annoying but no biggie

HI.

Quick question to any AK300 owners that have or had the AK100ii. Is the AD300 worth a $200 premium over the AK100ii. I can get the AK100ii for $300 and the AK300 for $500. (new)

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Ken.

Nope. Both sounds very good, but i lean toward ak100ii more peronally since it has clearer clarity and better separation. Ak300 has more dynamics and thicker body. Its just a matter of preferences so no biggie, choose which sounds you like most

As with most things audio, it comes down to personal taste. I'd say that $300 is a pretty good price for the AK100ii - but it's now a pretty old DAP and the user interface is probably a little bit dated.

I'd say that 100ii, to my ears, aims to be more of a reference/neutral player than the AK300. The 100ii tends to be the more crisp sounding player - with really good separation and quite neutral voicing. The 300 tends to be shooting for something a bit more analog sounding - and to me is quite a warm sounding player, with a little bit more push in the lower mids, and a very slight drop off in the high end. If i owned both simultaneously, i'd probably have my Jazz and Classical music on 100ii, and Rock, Blues etc on the 300.

I know the AK300 is pretty old now (in DAP years!) but I just wondered if any other owners had experienced the battery running down significantly faster when using the 2.5mm balanced out, instead of the 3.5 single-ended out?
not really, mine still work for around 4 or 5 hour while using 2.5mm out ... i'm rarely using the 3.5mm tho.. so didn't really know, how long it last

Does someone knows which cable should I buy to connect the AK 300 with my DAC Amp? It accepts Optical and USB.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply! That sounds like about the same as I've been getting out of mine through the 3.5mm. Can't see myself upgrading to another player any time soon, although getting the itch to lay my hands on an old blue-screen iPod 4th gen and do the SD card solid-state hack
