Hi, I recently purchased a pair of HE 500's and am very happy with them, except I'm running them off my Little Dot MK IV tube amp and they're only getting about one tenth of the recommended 1W.
I suppose my question really boils down to whether the Lyr is much better than the Asgard 2, as the Asgard 2 is easier on the wallet  : )
With the lyr, I would probably not need to buy another amp for a long time, as being a hybrid design it's very versatile, whereas the Asgard 2 is a little more limited.
My last little query is how 'tube-like' does the lyr sound? As much as I've enjoyed my Little Dot, I feel like going solid state for some variety.

You don't need to Lyr to properly power the HE-500.  The Asgard 2 does the job; is cheaper; and will give you a good solid state amp to complement your Little Dot.
