Just received my HD6XX and has been wondering which amp to get. Heard a lot of compliments for the pairing of valhalla 2 + hd650, but wonder what you guys suggest.
Will be listening to both digital source (from bitfrost) and vinyl LPs from (Rega -> Schiit Mani).

Best if you can try both and choose the one you like. As for me, I went with the Valhalla, you can play around with tubes.

I have both these amps and bifrost mb and hd600. I've tried the asgard 2 a few times, but always go back to the valhalla 2. It's just a smoother sound to me, easier to listen to, more forgiving of variations in quality of source material. It's quite possible the A2 is more accurate overall. I am using the stock tubes, haven't tried anything else.

Had both and Valhalla 2 was the easy pick for me. The wide soundstage (IMO one of the best in the price range) and clean neutral sound of the Valhalla 2, desptie being a OTL tube amp, paired well with the relatively smaller staged and warmish sound of the HD650.

I do not have the Asgard, but the Valhalla 2 sounds amazing with my HD600.
