Artists That Do Music Videos RIGHT!

I would just like to point out some things I've learned about the above video I posted, Bjork's "Pagan Poetry".

I read recently that those pearls on her body are actually sewn into her skin! They're even pieced through her nipples...

I thought that her body was portrayed tastefully and artistically to begin with (the hair and smile are both miraculous!), but to learn that she also put herself through this physically, just for art, shows me how dedicated some of these individuals truly are to artistic expression. Bjork is no corporate hog pop star, that's for sure.

Peter Gabriels "Play" DVD is very good. It has 23 of his videos. It also offers dts I think, it sounds very good.

This reminds me of the good ol' days when MTV really meant Music Television and actually played music videos (early 80's).

I need to watch those videos posted above.

It's a marketing strategy first implemented in the early 90s.

But I must agree with you on the Weird Al comment. I actually think that he'd be not nearly as famous without his videos - they're hilarious!

Sadly, I know exactly what you mean. The same folks who hang out in the coffee shop part of Barnes and Nobles who say the like something because it gives them credibility, without actually appreciating it themselves. Yeah, that's what I hate about liking Radiohead.

Pagan Poetry = Beautiful.

I've always liked Fiona Apple's Paper Bag: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKXzOlhwFfE

Also, Dave Matthews Band has had some good videos in their time. I personally like I Did It. It gives the band...personality. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CL05oCIqP7k

But then again, I like listening to music in the dark and see videos as something of a screensaver more often than not. There should be a worst videos thread, too.

I was going to say Matt Good as well but didn't think anyone would know who the hell I was talking about. There are many tempting videos to post, but here are a couple.

Strange Days: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSrJ7K0OHL4

Carmelina: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IaQUKVGRiI

Aman, that video is so bad it's good, so I don't know if that counts. With his enthusiasm towards it, I can't possibly fault it.

I'm a big Matthew Good fan, though I prefer his band albums to his solo works. His videos are definitely interesting to watch.

I suppose we could say Madonna has had some very cutting edge videos as well. I caught a glimpse of an older video of hers and was thinking...she was trying to break new ground and she often did. I'm not a fan of her stuff, but I can see the merit in it.

Maybe we should start a thread on 'historic' or 'memorable' music videos that have passed the test of time.

A-ha and a certain Robert Palmer video come to mind.

Almost anything directed by Michel Gondry kicks ass.

I agree. A lot of the suggestions here are not in line with the original thread's purpose and intended content.

I watched that video the other day. It definately is one of the best music videos. My friend was telling me how cool it was.

I think this music video is amazing. It goes REALLY well with the music. I'm not a fan of the music, and don't get me wrong, the video is REALLY strange, but it's cool nonetheless

Gojira - To Sirius

I think this is one of the most fun videos to watch:
Meshuggah - Rational Gaze
