Very basic info needed here. What other equipment is needed to make the ART DI/O sing? (aside from headphones). I am interested to know if I can play it through a PCDP or do I need spdif outs? Can I use Optical outs? Analog outs?

TIA, Marmul

Using the DI/O as a DAC, you'll need a player with coax digital out.

Yes there is. Checkout M-Audio CO2. That's one of the cheaper ones.

Such a generalization is false. It just depends on their implementation of the output and the quality of what happens before it hits the digital output.

would using one of these gadgets degrade sound at all? [other than the obvious degradation of introducing an extra cable in the chain]

Any ideas as to how this thing is powered? All the others seem to either have a wall wart or run off a 9V battery.

That device looks wallwart powered also.

The lower end kinds of devices most likely may or maynot make a difference. The cheap digital receiver and transmitters and bad AC power will probablyadd to jitter. Whether you notice or not depends on your equipment.

i would not worry about the parts quality too much , just about every single commercial device uses the same optical receivers and transmitters

the coax ?

Again , unless you want to go crazy the equal of anything at a rational cost

an even more impressive product for the price is...http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...5Fid=15%2D1242

FORTY BUCKS !

I have no idea why these are not flying off the shelves !
