Are wearing headphones/earphones for the majority of the day (68+ hours, almost non-stop)  on close to a daily basis in any way bad for your health assuming volume is average? Just wondering.

Define what you mean by "average" - there are many studies that have been done on hearing damage. Many of them show curves of SPL vs duration that will cause damage. In addition, the ambient environment noise level also matters. If you are in a noisy environment, the you need to turn the volume up to hear the music. This will cause a much higher SPL at your ear, even though you perceive the music volume as lower than when sitting in a quiet room. Conversely, if the headphones isolate very well, then they may allow you to turn the volume down, making them safer than more open headphones.
