It’s interesting how back in 1996, clothes still basically looked the same.

I think it might be because 90's aesthetics have seen a huge come-back recently, just as the 80's did a bit back. I guess our collective nostalgia is moving forward bit by bit, soon enough people will start missing 2006 and dress like Britney's backup dancers.

True, but I also think 90s clothing style in general never went away. One thing I notice about the 90s is that it was the decade where Americans started to wear sweat pants or exercise pants in public as like casual attire and I notice that I still see that.

Summer cut off jean shorts pretty much disappeared in the 90s for men and they are still absent. If you look at old photos from before the 90s a lot of men wore those jean shorts in the summer. The 90s seemed to have killed that.

Also, denim jackets were more popular in the 70s and 80s and seemed to have declined in 90s. You can still buy a denim jacket at the Levi’s store but I rarely see guys wearing them like how you see in pre 90s photos.

I think for the most part, the 90s set the standard for casual wear for the 2000s and latter.

Of course, in other countries outside the USA it may be different.
