Are um2 sibilant ?

I didn't notice any sibilance in ETy 4s, UM2s or the UE5s (a few hours use). I don't play them very loud - so that may account for it. Or it may be my ears or my brain.

hello,

Actually the Shure E5 and Westone UM2s are live performance monitors and have a different sonic signature than prerecorded mastered sound monitors such as the Ety Er4S.

Comparing dual driver units with passsive crossovers to single driver units IMO such as the ETY ER6 or the Shure E3 has no merit as comparisons should be done on an equal footing in regards to physical characteristics.

And you most certainly DO NOT get a flat response on either the Shure or the Westone because of the passive crossover or the resultant frenquency overlap because of this.

Not to mention that the midrange sound replication is enhanced for both BY DESIGN.

If you enjoy the sound, that is fine and in reality this is what this hobby is all about.

But lets try and keep this real shall we?

Are the um2s sibilant or not?

yes they are.
