Are DT990 Pros offered only in a 250 Ohm version?

Well, they are the newest DT990 pro without the double headband, but not the newest version. There's the consumer version.

The oldest version from the 80's has the double headband. The newer one is silver. Sorry about the confusion.

Hello Jstalz:Yes thats the DT-990PRO .I had them,a amp is needed in my opinion and the sound leakage is somewhat loud.They are soft on the ears velour very nice.They are not efficient like i said nice SQ.Bass is some what non existent in my opinion,what you put in is what you get out.!
