Is there a big difference between iPod through the line-out and iMod? Correct me if I'm wrong, but both bypass the internal amplifier, however the iMod bypasses more than that?
if you search here, you'll find a lot of discussion of iMods. some people feel that the newer generation iPod benefit somewhat less than older ones (i.e. the difference narrows).
well there's the CF card mod for longer battery life and much faster start-up and disc access times. and yes the DIYMOD/IMOD bypasses all the crappy surface mount components in the ipod by taking the signal from the dac and routing it straight to the lineout pins, providing a much cleaner and direct path for the audio signal. whereas the line out on the ipod, like most if not all devices, goes through some cheap caps, inductors, and PCB traces that are tiny.
I remember I saw one post here introducing some Head-Fi'ers who can help to modify your iPod. But I can't find it now. Does anyone know where the post is? or Could someone introduce those Head-Fi'ers again?
Thanks
