Are there headphone amps with phono input?

I've never seen one in the year and a half I've been here, so I'd fairly say, no. Unless, of course, you count a regular hi-fi amp with a headphone socket and phono stage as a headphone amp.

Probably best to get a stereo pre-amp, my Arcam Alpha 9 is a integrated, but it offers headphone out. No built in stage but for £50 you get a board fitted, it uses the Phono input. And has holes on the back for MM & MC. I assume Alpha 9 pre-amp is similar minus the power amp stages.

typically old receivers or integrated amps will have both a decent moving magnet phono stage as well as a pretty serviceable headphone out as well. I had a Fisher 500c that had a good phono stage as well as a great headphone out.

I want a NAD 3020! I had one growing up, but it's now like 3000 km away in Malaysia. Can't seem to find a cheap one though...

You could also look for a vintage Rotel like the RA-210, RA-310, or RA-410. These were built in Japan, but designed in England and were contemporaries of the Nad 3020. I don't know about the quality of the headphone output, but the phono stage and amplifier are pretty close to the Nad and they usually sell for less.

The mid-80s NAD 1130/1155 preamps have a MM/MC phono stage (with selectable capacitance and loading!) and headphone out... my first headphone rig was a M-Audio 2496 --> NAD 1155 --> Grado SR325... so many hours of enjoyment!!! When I was 16, that rig was the cat's ass, and for less than CA$500 in total... there's a 1155 on AgoN right now... offer US$80!

In EU they show up all the time and fetch about 40-100 Euro, probably at least 80 if it's a 3020B, and more like >150 if it's the rarer 3120.

Mine is a 7020i which I snagged for 45 Euro; a receiver from 1991, the last series with a 3020 amp section. I also have a Proton 520, which like the 3020B/3120 was an "audiophile" verison of the 3020. Got the Proton recently, bunched into a deal and it's far from broken in, so can't say which of the two will stay. Very pleased with the 7020's phono and phones, no less than a steal at 45 Euro.

AV amp = audio video amplifier = 5.1 reciever = an amp that has a video processor, audio processor and amplifier.

Those are generally not recommended because of their sound in stereo is not pon par with integrated stereo amplifiers like the NAD 3020 and their use is primarilly in home theatre.
