Hi,

I am thinking about to buy a source for my headphone rig. Now most musik I have is on CD, but some is on DVD.

I now wonder, if there are DVD players existing (max price around USD 500) that are as good in playing CD as a good CD-Player would be (also around USD 500). The brands I was looking at lately are NAD, Cambridge Audio etc.

Do you have any experience or recommendations regarindg that?

Many thanks in advance

Hi Rainbird,

My answer to your question is: None of which I am aware. About two years ago, I tried take the route you are considering. While there are some pretty good DVD players for under $500, I have had problems with some of them. After having to return THREE Pioneer DV578s, I gave up and bought a real player, the Music Hall CD25. While some of the brands I did not try may be better, I prefer the quality control and build quality of a true audio component.
