Yeah basically: do all the work Westone should have done in your place to make them sound good.

They charge $400 more to get that work done for you :-P

just wondering, is that what makes some IEMs warm sounding? SA6 has something similar. i think TF10pro doesn't have that 12-15k roll off.

No, it's not really that. If you want warm sound, boost the lower midrange and the surrounding frequencies; you don't want to have treble peaks either. Treble extention doesn't exclude a warm sound.

Hopefully, if they can have the ES3X custom molds fit in your ears at the first (or second) attempt. Otherwise you keep paying to help them learn.

Better than $10000 in hospital bills for integrating the driver entirely into your earcanal.

Try it with gels - different, try with complies - different. Figure out how to fit it correctly - you will get 20-18 (yes the quoted response) without any peaks in any area.

Wait.... You're telling me that the tri-flanges, which in the past have been known as the tips to use for optimal detail on earphones like the ER-4, actually cut 4-6kHz off of the audible upper frequency response of the Westone 3.

Really.

EDIT: Also, VoLTaG3, the yellow foamies don't do it for me. Sorry.

Yes, that is what I am telling you.

Aye, that's kind of the gist I think. You need to get the driver closer to the eardrum to have treble extension, but with majority of the tips that results in rocky mountains in the highs...so the challenge is figuring out how to flatten the highlands.
