While I have the E3, I'm planning on getting the E4 when it's released, but I'm not expecting a tremendous WOW factor difference. I don't think the extra $75 or so will give me a great deal of difference, because, after all, they both should have the Shure sonic signature. I'm hoping for a slightly improved high end, and maybe a bit punchier bass. To me, that would be worth the extra money.
Only your own ears can determine whether it's worth the extra money for you.
I haven't heard the E3, but I preferred the E4 to the E5 when I had the chance to listen to both at the recent impromptu Detroit mini-meet. They are very resolving, and the bass just seemed cleaner with the E4.
