Or are they actually good? I know nothing about any kind of cans, I use only iems but whats the deal with beats? Are they just popular with good sound or are they really something great?

The highest end ones, I think the pros, are supposed to be OK but only have $200 sound or something. The rest of the lineup is pretty bad. For example, the Beatles Come Together on my brothers (I told him not to get them) Solo HD I can barely hear anything over the bass guitar. the bass is supposed to be prominent but not the only sound.
