Hello All,
I'd say about 90% or more of the recordings on Amazon are labeled as HD audio quality, which they define as 16-bit/44.1kHz, or what I believe to be CD SQ, but when I play these recordings using a Chord Mojo as my DAC/headphone amp, the Mojo says all the tracks on Amazon HD are 192kHz. My chord mojo has never identified any CD I played as being at a higher bitrate than 44.1kHz and the few higher bitrate recordings I had played through it were also correctly identified, so I tend to believe it's accurate in identifying bitrates.
To my ears, all the recordings on Amazon HD sound far superior to CD, and I can believe that they are all higher sample frequency recordings.
Could Amazon be misidentifying the majority of their recordings as 16-bit/44.1kHz when they are actually 192kZh?
Or am I misunderstanding something here?
FWIW: I am using Beyerdynamic DT 1990 headphones and an iPhone 8
Thanks!
