Pollini's 1987 DDD recording of the late Schubert sonatas was released in this popular mid-price series. The front cover of the new edition says "Original Image Bit Processing." In light of the fact that this was originally a digital recording, I'm not certain whether this means it has been remastered. Does anyone know?

From what I recall a lot of those are indeed remastered. Most early digital recordings suffered from some malady or other. With the new technology out there most companies have gone back and fixed some of these things.

I assume that their definition of "remastering" varies from recording to recording. If all they have to do is fiddle with the balances, then that probably is considered equal with a major remaster job.
