My first post, so I hope this in the right place.

I have been offered the chance to buy a "arcam Alpha 7 amplifier" 2nd hand from someone.

Does anyone have ay first hand experience with one of these and know
#1 how good it is
2 how much its worth.

I have a Arcam Alpha 7 and I think they are great. I have not heard a lot of amps but if you can get one of these at the right price I think you will be happy.

I paid about £80 for mine and its paired with an alpha 8 CDP.

Its a lot better than my old technics set up.

If you are thinking of using the headphone out, Its not great IMHO. Then again there are not many amps that have a decent headphone out.

I'm not sure how much it's worth, depends of course on the condition of the amp too, but the Alpha 7 is a great amp for the money. I love the Arcam house sound anyway, nice and warm. Anyway, my dad used to own one a while ago and enjoyed it, but YMMV depending on what other equipment you have in your system.
