I were under the impression that Rockbox support ALAC. Which itself support several non-Apple branded players.

Ipods don't support flac nor does itunes, you have to convert flac to wave files which itunes and ipod supports, then compress if needed, i don't anymore. I've decided to just keep them wave.

I listen to .flac with a Rockboxed Ipod 5.5g. Coudn't be easier.

Yes, you can play ALAC file in the Rockbox OS.

As I thought/remembered Rockbox support Apple Lossless.

The WAVE container don't support artwork.
iTunes will link artwork to the tracks, but it will be stored outside the WAVE files themselves.
