Either Tyll is the size of Mt Rushmore, or that is one very small 'desktop' amp. I'm thinking from the vid 'This cant be any bigger than the original Lisa III !'. Sure, its mains-powered, but thats no impediment to my 'ultimate transportable rig' dream. How does the sound compare to the 'big boy' amps that will never leave your house ? Beats me, but for 495 USD its cheaper than many of Ray's portable amps, and not a whole lot bigger.

I think is a great option for people like me... I'm used to carry my meier corda headfive between office and home, so a high quality transportable desktop amp makes a lot of sense to me...

Do you mean the external aesthetics, or the amp's topology ? Personally, I really like the simplicity of whats 'under the hood' - I suspect the DiYers might tell me that its not a lot of parts for $500 retail, but that holds for almost every amp I can think of.

I will be posting my review this weekend in the Butte loaner thread.  It's essentially the size of an Xbox controller.  In my opinion it's a fantastic little amp for the office or nightstand.  It scales well with one's high-end sources and headphones.  Stay tuned.....

No problem, I found that the listening experience depended on the source and headphones so there was synergy with some gear and not others.  That's the great thing about reviews, different perspectives based on different gear.  Looking forward to your thoughts on the Butte in the upcoming days.
