I finally figured out what model of Beyers I used to own. I believe they were DT311's. I always loved the way they sounded. Right now, I am getting back into searching for a new set of headphones, and am trying out my brothers Shure SRH840's and AKG K601's. The K601's are somewhat similar to what I remember the DT311s sounding like, but the 311s were much easier to drive and worked pretty well out of portable CD players, etc.

So, is there a current Beyer model that has a similar sound, or are the AKGs the way to go?

Well, it turns out I actually owned DT411's, and just bought another pair off eBay. Will compare to some AKGs and Shures.
