I was listening to the 580 and i just fell in love with it, i gave it away to my cousin as a birthday present (yeah, it's one hell of a bday present!). I'm thinking of getting another headphone thats similar to it. i would like to know what other headphones i should look at (at the same price range or less). I love the laid back feel of the 580's and the mellow lows. Can you recommend me a headphone (or headphones to be exact)?

Wow -- I have HD580, and many other cans -- but I came up with a blank for your question!
I guess that proves they are a terrific bargain at the recent low prices they have sold for.
I hope somebody else can come up with something....

why not just get another set of HD580s? There aren't any headphones near its current price that sound similar to it.

well, why dont you try some used DT880? they are not like the HD580, but I think you would like their sound, because I see it as a somehow "natural" evolution...

IMHO! of course..

Now that's LOL!! The OP asks what headphone sounds like the HD580 at HD580 price, and you suggest something not like the HD580

Seriously, I'm not understanding the logic here....if you're looking for an HD580 at HD580 price.....shouldn't that be HD580??

Aforementioned headphones have different characteristics then the HD580: you'll find yourself going through a lot of headphones if you're looking for something totally different then the HD580, but gives you the same amount of enjoyment.

I was thinking of trying another brand of headphones since i've only owned Senns. Just to get a different feel but similar style?

Since the price of HD580 has been raising up recently, if you can't get it for less than $150, why don't go straight for HD650? To me it has deeper lows and better clarity and overall similar feel and sound.

HD595 sounds quite similar to HD580 (with a lil bit more highs and less lows); however, since you already have HD555, they might sound too similar to your HD555.

Or... why don't you try other brands? Unfortunately they will sound quite different from your Senns. Grado might be too aggressive so why don't try Beyers or AKG? Beyer DT880 or AKG K501/601 should be quite laid back. They won't replicate the bass of HD580 though...

As an unabashed Alessandro fan, I gotta admit that HD600 and MS2i are a complementary set of phones that really does it for me! What one does great it does great, what the other one does great it does great too. Sometimes they both do great together!

Ain't nothin' one or the other won't do, and do beautifully!

They each have about the same SQ but come at it from different directions and come together in the middle! Steal the HD580 back and take a look at Alessandro!

Then maybe Audio Technica (A900) or MS1 (Alessandros are more laid back Grados).
