Just set up a Pi to run RuneAudio as a server connected to a NAS setup. It works fine for me but the SQ leaves much to be desired (lots of cracklin' pops) passed over USB to a Hugo. Has anyone had success with getting a good sound out of their kit?

USB has always been cumbersome. Rpi shares the network and usb on the same chipset.
I have great experience with my new rpi b2.
Other way would be to use a hifiberry digi connected thru the pi's i2s pins. Then you have your audio on a different bus. But it's a PCM stream then connect to your Hugo by spdif connector. No native dsd possibilities, only dop.
