Anyone use a Lexicon i-Onix U22?

I had the same question... To me it's a much sexier layout than the 0404 but how does it sound?

I bought one and returned it after a couple of days. The recording part of it was very nice, but it had a huge issue - if I used the scroll wheel on my mouse (which I do all the time) while playing back audio, the sound would drop out for a second or two. It was very repeatable. I also would occasionally get the sound dropping out while just moving and clicking the mouse. I have a Silverstone USB DAC that I was using before this and never had any issues with it. BTW, the computer is a Mac Pro with a ton of memory and nothing going on at the time. I was very disappointed. Now I'm back to looking for a replacement to upgrade the Silverstone.

I am guess it was a USB mouse... bandwidth issues maybe? Weird tho.

I am on a XP box.. if this thing sounds good I may take a chance on one.

It was a USB mouse (Logitech MX Revolution). I tried another USB DAC with it and did not experience this problem at all. Very strange.

Just got my I-onix set up today with my KRK rp8 g2. Little hiccup at the start because 64 bit win 7 driver was not included on cd, only 32 bit was, but it was not difficult to figure out that was the issue and went to the lexicon site to find the drivers there. Sounds phenomenal! Running my ath-m50 through the headphone jack I find that they really open up as compared to on board audio and my Cowon PMP. The I-onix is very stylish and pretty loud. It has all the plugs I need, and mine has a power switch =) whereas older models do not. I'll be trying out the new VST reverb in ableton over the course of the next couple of days.

I can't find much online about this interface. I'm very very happy with mine and I'm wondering why they aren't more well known or widely used. Any other head-fiers out there use this?

I am interested in this as well.  I was looking to get the Rokit RP8 G2, and looking for a cheap USB DAC with balanaced outputs.  When plugging in the headphones, is there a way to kill the output to the monitors and just use the headphones?  Any complaints from users?

Ugh, I typed up this long explanation for you and Chrome crashed before I could post it (purely human error lol) so I'm going to annotate this a bit. long story short, this rocks with the rp8g2s. If you have windows 7 64bit then you will have to get the drivers off of the Lexicon web site. To answer about headphones, yes, separate volume knobs mean main out can be turned down while the headphones still drive... Complaints are: I emailed them like a week ago and haven't heard back but I was smart enough to research and answer my own question.

Just to be clear, this will behave basically as a "soundcard" to my PC (i am kind of new to the audio scene).  I connect via USB, and, if I am playing a game, listening to music, or playing my Roland Keyboard, it will act as the "soundcard" for getting audio "out" of my PC.  (appreciate your patience with my inexperience in this realm).

Yep, that's what it does. Under the windows playback devices (right click on the little volume speaker on the task bar) it will be listed in that pop up window where you can enable and disable it at will. You will, of course, be required to install the included drivers on the install disk. Set up was a cinch!

I got the I-Onix u22 + Rokit RP6 (The RP8's were really too big for my desk), and I have to say that i am very much liking this set up. I moved my PeachTree Audio Nova and Era Acoustics speakers to be my TV speakers, and it works nice there. The Rokit + i-onix is a pretty clean and easy setup, and the headphone jack seems to power my Grado's without any issues. (350mw).

I got the Lexicon as an open box item, so this has been a pretty cheap setup to get to nice speakers, DAC, Volume Control, and Headphone amp.

The Lexicon i-onix also looks very nice on your desk. It has an angled look and metal finish, and just "appears" nicer looking than the m-audio products out there. All in all, i couldn't be happier.

Very cool to have gotten it open box! I agree it looks great on the desk and the brushed metal looks much better than other options. Did yours come with a power switch on the back? I see the screen shots on their web site and they don't have the power switch that mine does. I hear many people have complained about not having one so I'm guessing they added one to the newer models.
