It occurred to me that running some of my music through some quality Voxengo plugins to EQ and the Nomad Factory Blue Tubes VSTs might be a great way to experiment with some sound. They are professional grade recording VSTs, so Im not worried about quality degradation. Anyone else thought of this? In this way, someone with a regular amp could simulate the tube warmth

There are VST wrappers available both for foobar and winamp..

And yep, I've used quite a few different VST plugins.

One interesting thing to do for portable use is to pre process your files and then load them into your portable player. You can do that with either winamp or foobar.

I don't know doodly about the ipod or itunes but I'm sure it could be done somehow.

And yes, probably would take some extra steps.

For winamp you use these two plugins.

The first is the VST wrapper..

And the second is the mp3 writer.

Once you get it set up the processing runs at several times real time speed. On my 2.66 ghz dual core pentium it runs about 10x real time.

Make sure you choose a separate directory for your output files.
