Not high-end but... I've been trying. My last attempt at portable was a Jensen SCR-75. It had a line out, so I hoped to run it into my M-Audio Bass Traveler and get decent sound. But the line out sounded like the phone out, and it all sounded crap. Tried other NOS walkmans... but they age badly and I'm not willing to spend the time and money fixing one.
Settled on a Panasonic stereo with a cassette player built in now. I'll just listen to tapes at home.
I still have cassettes but no cassette player, Seem like all the good brands of cassettes is used or what not nowdays but i still gonna keep the cassettes for afew reasons
The hardest part is finding someone with a professional high end setup and knows what there doing that have a cassette ripping services for reason prices same ything with Vinyl i have a brand new sealed Vinyl that i just a rip it but i'm not from the Vinyl years etc
My cassette tapes that are kept in a shoebox are warbled beyond listening comfort now.
Fortunately I ripped them using my old Technics dual tape deck many years ago. Some were already degraded at that point. These cassettes have never been released on CD or thru digital streams so I still keep them. I also keep a lead pencil with them.
