Anyone here have Best Buy Black Friday information/experience?

I stopped at Circuit City on my way to work and snagged that same camera that organicabstract bought. I also bought the Polaroid 2GB SD card for $30.

It took 5 minutes to get my greedy hands on the merchandise but 65 minutes to check out. A woman 3 places behind me gave birth and...no wait, wrong story.

I did something similar, only at the Staples next to BB down here in NJ...

[size=xx-small]Thanksgiving: Formulated the "Plan." We'll get on line at BB at around midnight get a couple of inexpensive laptops and consider ourselves lucky (we were so wrong)

Midnight: Looked outside. It's raining. Fuggedaboutit, we'll go later.

2:45am: Wake up. Wake Ryan, stumble into car. Drive up Route 18, NJ.

2:55am: Go to Starbucks drive through. The coffee was free - thanks guys! Drive to BB.

3:00am: Arrive at BB. See lots of tent people and garbage bag people. Drive around the back of store. There are still more people. Decide this was a really bad idea.

3:01am: Notice that the line at Staples (right next door) has a line only 20 deep. We park the car and get on line, breaking out the NY Jets Stadium chairs, complete with cupholder.

3:05am: We go to plan B: $380 laptop or $280 Samsung TV/Monitor or $200 HP Laserjet or $500 32" MAG LCD HDTV/PC Monitor or $20 Altec Lansing Speakers

3:50am: ...talked with some really nice people on the Staples line, who wanted some small stuff like $8 Cruzers, GPSs and monitors. Met nice female schoolteacher who showed off her outfit she made her self. We enjoyed the entertainment. Nice indian couple ahead of us offered us coffee to hold their place in line. Korean guy in back of us discussed LCD TV Technology

4:00am: There's a great deal of shouting happening over at BB, and we see a few police cars. We're glad we didn't hang with the tent people.

4:05am: All of a sudden, a good deal of people started crowding the Staples line, realizing that BB was futile. We stand our ground even though the cutters were threatening.

5:00am: There's activity inside Staples as they prepare for the rush.

5:59am: All the BB stragglers try the loop around to the front of the Staples line. A mad rush for the door insues.

6:00am: The doors at Staples open and we're pushed inside. People are screaming "where's the laptops!" "where's the screw*n laptops!" I casually walk over to the laserjet printer area, pick up the $200 printer (50% off, no rebate), a couple of sets of the Altec Lansing $20 speakers and look for a sales associate.

6:15am: I see a sales associate and ask them where the TVs are, they said
they're in the back and there's only two left. I asked "two left of what?" "Oh didn't you want the 32" LCD TV?" I said "sure!"

7:15am: I check out all the stuff and see the schoolteacher who told us that not only did she get the GPS for her dad, but a few people tried to steal it from her. I saw the BB Cutters walk out with just a few plugstrips

I totally gimped myself with the Canon SD600. I paid $242 for it almost 2 months ago. Before Canon did a $50 price break on it. Wish I had known they were going to do that. Would've waited for the Black Friday deal. Oh well, at least I didn't shell out that much more for it in comparison. Less then $30 more is pretty good IMO (would've been ~$215 with tax).

My brother and I got to Best Buy at around 12:20 a.m. and there were like ~150 people in front of us (We were by the back side of the store). It was freaking cold as hell (Definetly the biggest obstacle to overcome. Next time I'm bringing a portable heater or something). Time wasn't really a factor though (It would have been nice to have been able to listen to some music...but my STAX rig isn't portable

). Got in the store at ~5:03 a.m. and ended up getting 3 monitors (One for me, my brother, and a friend). Of course, we had to check out 2 times so I didn't leave the store until ~7.

All the monitors were placed somewhere else than they normally were, so I wasn't prepared for that. However, there were like ~15 of them and by the time I got in there only 1 or 2 had been taken

I have the monitor set up right now and it was totally worth it. The total came out to $222 ($8 recycle fee??). I now have a little ghetto home theater set up thing going. Pictures/impressions later.

I got that 22 inch LCD monitor as well.

I also got that $30 Philips DVD player to see how good of a source it is. For $30, why not.

Man, this Westinghouse is awesome. Picture-in-picture is pretty nice and you just need a cable box or VCR if you want to watch TV on it. The quality is great, though there's still bothersome ghosting with music games (Good thing I'm not really into those anymore). I still need to get a DVI cable though

You know, my brother, I, and a friend waited from 8pm on thursday for that westinghouse 22". There were already 50-70 people ahead of us in line, easy, and as the night went on, people just walked on into the line since people had been "holding their place." Then, at 2:50am, the entire rear of the line except for the people around the third corner of the block just charged up and mobbed the front door. Say goodbye to the line. Police made no attempt to maintain order. Some BB managers attempted to make people get into some semblance of a line and back up, which was greeted with scattered calls of, "screw that b**** up!," and "D*** the screw*** Jews!," etc. etc. followed by great rounds of laughter to be had by all. The crowd pushed forward every time the BB employees told them to back up. Best Buy employees handed out vouchers to the first 20-30 mobbers clustered around the head of the line, none of which had waited out the night like some of us. Some of them had chatted up the employees while wandering in and out of the "line" so that they would be recognized, others, the BB employees crumpled the vouchers up into paper wads and just tossed them. Then, when the store opened, certain people, ugh, I won't say, but they were young, started pushing the mob forward, squeezing the entire crowd between a set of pillars about 5-6ft wide. If anyone had fallen, they would have been trampled. I could easily have knocked people over if I hadn't been holding back as hard as I could. Then, we got into the store, and low and behold, no 22" lcds, no laptops, no mp3 players, no digital cameras. Nothing we wanted. We walked out empty handed.

Hooray for black friday.

haha, just got this samsung 19inch lcd monitor for $130 on black friday at best buy. I got there at 3:30am, hoping to grab that toshiba laptop for $250, but there were already 500-600 people waiting in line. So no luck for that, but i got my second choice which was this nice lcd monitor. After i grabbed one, and there were like 8 left, i swear after like 5 minutes, i turned around and they were gone. Wow, these things sell like hot cakes. Anyways, im happy i got one and love it alloooott
