Judging from the announcements, this would be easily one of the most interesting sub-1500$ players.

Anyone had a chance to hear it and maybe to compare it against something like Quad 99 CDP-2 or Rega Apollo?

By announcements, I assume you mean recent announcement. If so what are they?

My Cambridge dealer said the 840C should be out in two months time....in July. I'm still waiting.

It has been delayed over and over again. But the DAC looks interesting.

unless it sounded amazing i would have a hard time picking it over their 640 music server at the same cost. Its pretty impressive stock, and absolutly awesome with a decent dac in the mix.
