Anyone have any experience with a Listen L7579e or other sub $45 headphone amps? Im in the market for something similar and actively looking. According to the description, which may or may not be true, it has elna caps in it. In the car audio world those are generally saved for the upper mid to high level amps.

Bump I saw this amp today on eBay and I'm wondering the same thing. They also have another version called the Listen L75E and the only apparent difference is that it doesn't have the SRS chip, and more important, it has a swappable DIP socket for the opamp.

I'd love to know how both of these perform. If they perform like the specs on paper they should be good for the price.

Bump, I emailed the seller of the L7579E and asked him what OpAmp it uses, and he told me that the QSurround QS7779 chip works as the OpAmp. I'm having a hard time swallowing this since that chip is supposed to do 3D effects processing (QSurround is another version of CMSS 3D or Dolby Headphone), but that's the story so far. So I said what the hell, and go the L75E (the one with the swappable OpAmp). I'll let you guys know how it sounds when I get it. I have some samples of the LME49720 NA coming too, but I bet it will sound practically the same. The NE5532 is a giant killer of an OpAmp.

This is the one I got: http://www.ebay.com/itm/120855030766?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

This is the one OP is asking about: http://www.ebay.com/itm/120854636224?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

It's a shame that the more expensive one doesn't have a DIP socket. If it did, it would be a clearly better choice for only $3 more. But it just wasn't meant to be.

I look forward to the review.

Remember that age-old adage "you get what you pay for"? Well, the headphone out on the Listen L75E is reversed! The right channel sounds from the left, and the left channel comes from the right. I wonder if they have any adapters that swap the L/R channels.

Or I could buy an RCA -> 3.5mm adapter and use that instead, but I would prefer to not have any wires hanging off of the HPA. *sigh*

I'll have to do some more listening before I make any conclusive statements about the SQ. But I really need to fix this swapped channel problem.

Wear the headphones backwards.

That's not always convenient. Case in point: AudioTechnica ATH-AD500, the earpads are molded to be worn in one direction only.
