I believe these are out, does anyone have em? How do they sound? Are they a good alternative for a cheap closed headphone?

anyone???? I've read that these have the same drivers as the KSC-35, is this true? If so they should be a pretty good closed phone for 30 bucks.

Well, Rock, the UR20s and UR30s were pretty rotten. Matter of fact, most Kosses except for the "magic" KSC35 series family (incl PortaPro, SportaPro, KSC50, & KSC55) are actually lame across the board. If you're spending more than $50 for headphones, Koss is generally not the best choice.

Upshot is that the 40s are a gamble. they don't use the 35 drivers, so the full talent of Koss's engineers will be on central display here, which does not exactly fill me with confidence. That said, for $27 these might be a not-too-painful experiment. If you bought em and reviewed em, I'd love to read about them and might even buy a pair if your review was very positive...

If you got the $ and want to give them a shot, I too would be very interested in the review, at least so I would have something else cheap to recommend to people if they are good. I'm pretty well set for cans right now.

i'd sure like to hear about them....although im wondering if koss can recover after the tragic ur20's...
