Hi, I recently found a cool deal on Aliexpress. First, I got a notice that they received my
payment. Then a few hours later, they sent a message that the transaction is closed.
Then for "security reasons", they want me to send them my bank statement and my ID.
I don't think they need this kind of information for security. I'm afraid that this is not safe.
Should I just claim for a refund? I think it's too dangerous to give away my personal info.
Thanks.

P.S. here's what they sent to me

Aliexpress is legit. They use their own payment system (escrow if I remember).

I had a similar issue a few years ago with a russian debit/credit card buying an air ticket from a spanish company (edreams) from France. Probably the triangulation raised some flags

Where do you come from?

Legit or not, I think you should cancel the order.
I've bought twice (maybe three times?) from AliExpress and it worked out fine.
Maybe they have experienced fraud themselves and are trying to be extra careful?
But sending them a copy of your bank statement seems too risky, cancel the order.
