Anyone else listening to tons of British music? I am kind of obsessed with British bands. Right now I am listening to

Oasis (the greatest of them all)
Babyshambles
Kaiser Chiefs
Arctic Monkeys
The Futureheads
Maximo Park
The Libertines
Bloc Party
Franz Ferdinand

Please feel free to make some suggestions if I am missing some new band

I like Blur's earliest stuff, not their recent stuff.

Coldplay is pretty good. I like most of their new album.

Richard Ashcroft rules, but the Verve aren't new

What does Porcupine Tree sound like?

I forgot to add the Test Icicles to my list.

Pink Floyd
The Beatles
Radiohead
Mogwai
Snow Patrol

How could you miss them out! Not new but classics!

Well being British the bands get more coverage over here than over in America I expect. I'll give you a name of a quality post-rock group:

65daysofstatic

Probably unheard of by anyone else but ruddy hell its mogwai on steriods!!!

Another absolute belter is a band called:

The Reindeer Section

It has members from snow patrol, arab strap and mogwai umong others from the Scotish indie scene. I would seriously say that you should pick up a copy of their second album "Son of Evil Reindeer" beautiful stuff!

Porcupine Tree is quite unique, and not really anything like the bands you initially mentioned. They often get pigeon-holed as a prog-rock band, but only really their early material falls nicely into that category. They have moved on since then into more acoustic pop-song realms (the albums 'Stupid Dream' and 'Lightbulb Sun' which are both currently unavailable pending re-issue), and more recently into more rock/metal-based territory.

I would recommend starting with the album 'In Absentia'; there is a review here:

There are also full songs streaming here:

BTW see if you can download the song 'Lazarus'; it's the sort of pop song Coldplay wish they could write!

first and foremost I love the Verve... whether it's the early shoegaze or the later britpop, they knew how to put a meaningful song together. I was let down by Ashcroft's later albums, but that's another story.

Some other British bands I like a lot:
The Beta Band (3 E.P.'s = endlessly creative and impressive)
The Beatles (of course)
Clinic (think they're British, at least)
Doves
Engineers (new space rock/shoegaze band... similar to Spiritualized)
Gomez
New Order
Porcupine Tree
Queen (again, I think they're British, might be wrong)
Ride
Rolling Stones
Spiritualized
The Stone Roses (s/t first album is one of the most consistent I've ever heard... not a dull moment)
Underworld
The Verve
The Who

I really like 65daysofstatic...but none of my friends had ever heard of them. Come to think of it I'm not sure I remember how I came upon them. I'm Canadian and our MTV is MuchMusic, they have a show called the New Music, I think that's where I saw them...but yeah, they're cool in a way that only math rock can be I guess...lol

What did you think of the Babyshambles album? For me... eh... it's definitely not The Libertines.

Some of the Brits that haven't been mentioned that I've been listening to a lot:

Aerogramme (well, they're scottish)
The Wedding Present
Boyracer
Brakes (new Rough Trade music)
Momus
My Bloody Valentine (still the king)
Bearsuit

the brits definitely pwn usa when it comes to rock music. mainstream american rock is too rappy/emo/sludge nowadays, though the whole indie movement is definitely making much progress.
