Was doing some testing with my new JDS Labs C5D between my Android Nexus 5X and my 2013 Macbook running Sierra.
Much to my shock, the output I was getting from the Macbook sounded noticeably awful compared to the Android. Can't think of any reason why this should be the case - both are doing 96/24 out. Tested with a few different formats and software, and it's consistent and noticeable result. The soundstage is substantially more closed on the Macbook, the bass rolls off more quickly (missing that sub-bass action), and I'm even getting occasional audio artifacts (hiccups, mild distortion).
I've found various complaints by Googling around, but really nothing conclusive. Is this something anyone else has encountered?
