No, I'm not selling mine (they're not resallable, being custom molded

).

But I've been in touch with Jerry Harvey at UE to find out exactly what SPLs (Sound Pressure Levels) UE-10 Pro emit when used with a DAP.

Now, he will be conducting tests with a dummy head and proper equipment to do this, but he's got an iPod as source. With its 30 mW per channel @ 32ohms it seem to be the same as the Karma in that department.

However, if somebody owns a Karma and is interested in knowing exactly what volume it would output when combined with UE-10 (not knowing how the volume steps are setup in Karma is an example of how iPod might differ), Jerry needs a Karma in his office by next Thursday. He will then send it back the next day.

I would do it myself, but I'm based in Italy and it would be pretty tough. If somebody is willing to do this, I will be readily available to repay him shipping costs through PayPal.

I get paid next tuesday-wednesday, and was planning on ordering a Karma then. I would be willing to have it sent there first and then to me, but I'm not sure that it would get there on time....

I have a Karma that is for sale in the source forum, but, if I do not have it sold by Monday I will be willing to send it out to UE. Any chance that the Harveys would be willing to knock a few dollars off the price of the UE-10 (soft option) in exchange for my being a nice guy???

... I can't speak for them. I guess not, and this would be a favour just to me and other future Karma/UE users. Jerry already has an iPod he will use for measurements, and that will cover a *large* share of the DAP users market...
I will give you the money to cover all shipping costs, though.

I'm starting to fear I might buy a pair of Sensas in the next year or so...

It was more of a joke than anything else. Unless Lindrone will review the UE-10 as absolute crap that gets trounced by Sensas all over the place, that is. But I somehow doubt that. I think it will probably be more of a sound signature thing.

I was kidding. But it is always fun to haggle and see what you can get from people...

I love my 2X-S and have many better uses for $1000 at this point in time. I'm moving into a new house in a month and need to add some cash to the "big ass TV" Fund.

I just wanted to inform everybody interested in Ultimate Ears that, hopefully by tomorrow, I will be able to provide detailed SPLs information about UE-10 and UE-5c when used with iPod and Karma.

Many, many, many thanks to cmascatello for trusting me in this. Everything went smoothly.

I believe this will be interesting information, as I have read of several users that intend to listen for many hours a day to their UE. And listening to high SPLs for long times is dangerous for your hearing health.

Well, we know which songs they used for testing with the Karma, so I've asked cmascatello to analyze them with MP3gain to come up with the average recording level for them. That will make the test far more useful.

I was entirely aware of this problem.
