I don't know much about modding, but perhaps one could start by replacing the opamps with OPA627s? I opened mine up and the opamps looked like they were soldered to the board... wonder what effect it would have on sound quality?

Somehow I'm thinking it'll be spending a lot of money polishing a turd.

Perhaps! And as I have no idea about PCBs or EE in general, I don't know how good Silverstone's is.

But at 1/3 the price of the micro DAC, if it could be modded to sound better I think it'd be a great bargain, especially since newegg is now shipping $70 refurbished ones.

Alright, I'll take some more pics tonight and post 'em over there
