Anybody else just use 128k AAC?

Bingo. I do my portable listening portably, with PortaPros or ER4s, on the street, subway, car - noise is all around me, even with IEMs. I can't tell the difference in my situation, so 128k AAC is perfectly acceptable.

That's what matters. As long as it sounds good to you. I see the differance right away between 128 aac and the current format I use (Lame 3.97b2). I do most of my listening with UE super fi.3 on trains, in stores and walking around the suburbs or NYC streets. That's my ears though. Not everyone is the same.

I don't recommend aac though. Mainly because it's not a universal format. Some people don't mind re ripping or re encoding their loseless files though.
