My cousin has a sony psp (firmware 1.5), and it seems he can't a play a particular game (prince of persia-legit umd). He doesn't wanna get the new official firmware, so is there any way for him to play it? If he has no choice, he'll upgrade it. TIA

Upgrade it to version 2.0 (nothing higher than that though). That way he should be able to play the game and he can always downgrade later. Version 2.0 firmware and instructions for downgrading can be found at this site.

damn, we were impatient and just upgraded it to 2.6. Oh well. BTW, Prince of persia is really crappy. Ugly illegible cut-scenes, horrible controls, response, graphics, etc. We shouldn't have wasted our time.

You can't use homebrew, which is like hacked software or whatever that lets you do cool stuff. I.e. allowing the use of snes/genesis/etc emulators.

Think of the PSP as the new Game Gear. Superior graphics and all sorts of handy abilities that the Nintendo portable systems just don't have (so far as I know).
And I used to have a Game Gear, too. How long did it take the Game Boy to catch up in terms of technology?

I liked the GG more than the PSP. Sure, the games were lame, but it was still fun. LOVED blackjack. I absolutely despise the lcd, lack of original games, and constant load times of the PsP. I definitely don't think the graphics are on par with PS2. I'd rather have a DS.

Yeah, my brother got me Tokobot PSP game for Xmas.

I ended up just updating to 2.0 firmware. The added Web Browser and additional video codec were worth the loss of being able to transfer my games to the memory stick and play them there with a 30% battery life gain.

Oh well, bought another battery and am just dealing with the inefficient UMD's.
