I saw a few press releases on the M-Audio ProFire 610. Seems like a really solid unit.

The street price is about 400.00 and it seems like an extremely capable interface for that price.

I've been drooling for a while about the Profire 2626 (M-AUDIO - ProFire 2626 - High-Definition 26-in/26-out FireWire Audio Interface with Octane Preamp Technology) and thinking about getting one for my studio myself, but 610 is also a great device and a lot cheaper. It just has less inputs and outputs.

I'm bumping this. I'm considering this unit because i want a cheap interface with 8+ 24/192khz channels.

Anybody got and modded the 610?

Anyone uses it with a PowerPC Mac? I tried to set it up, but while it is recognized, no sound output is produced.
