clothe or similar cups, no leatherette crap
closed ear, a little isolation
reasonably deep and punchy bass, I am not a bass head but it for gaming a movies so bass is needed.
decent soundstage.
preferably around the ear, it can be on the ear though.
Decent mic, nothing uber special just reliable.
max budget is $85, unless it a little more and well worth the extra $$.

going to go ahead and warn you that nobody on here is going to recommend anything with a built in mic.

If you want an above average headset under $100 I would suggest the following three in no particular order

1. Fatal1ty MkII
2. Razer Carcharias
3. GameCom 377

I never experienced the MMX2 so be our guinea pig and test it for us.

I'd say a desk mic with headphones would be a better choice.. You could always get that Zalman MIC-1. One common complaint is that its quite quiet (which my friends complain about when i use mine). I'm using it with my PS3 on max volume and apparently its still soft.

from what I understand is that the beyer MMx2's are just like the DT235 but with a mic.
So if anyone would give me an idea of the DT235's, that would be helpful.

I might get flamed for this... but for gaming I bought a Turtle Beach Ear Force x41... IMO its AWESOME for my Xbox and midnight movie watching (via Xbox of course). I connected it via a fiber optic cable and get simulated surround sound... pretty darn good if you ask me...
