I'ts been a while, but I went back and listened to some Atmosphere and Heiruspecs. I realized that one of the things I love about these groups is that their lyrics have a soul-baring introspective quality that is a refreshing change from the standard "I'm better than all the other MCs" drivel you hear in hip hop.

Any suggestions for other groups along the same lines?

Yep, I listen to all those. Common as well. Sorry, should have mentioned those in my first post.

Love mf doom, bear in mind his latest album is under the doom name (no mf anymore, due to a spat with marvel comics)

Would also add de la soul.

Illmatic by Nas, introspective yes, 'I'm the best yes' but if your bold enough to use 'Human Nature' by Michael Jackson and it sounds unbelievably good on 'It Ain't Hard To Tell' I don't care.
