Any reason not to use XLR-TRS cable?

Title pretty much says it all, would there be a problem (alteration of the sound, impedance mismatch, whatever..) with using XLR to TRS cables for a balanced analog signal? My source has XLR outputs however my preamp has TRS inputs but no XLR. This might be interesting for long cable runs.
Thanks

TSR short the signal to ground when you insert them. Just be sure that whatever you are using can handle the abuse.
