Hi

Is there any benefit to using a sounblaster Z card to send the sound/data to an extrenal DAC compared to just using a USB to the DAC?

An other way to ask is if the Soundbalster card does any thing to the signal going to the DAC or is it just a relay? I use optical cable between the Soundbalster and DAC?

Would it normaly be better to use the soudblaster for games and movies and the USB for music, or no difference at all?

S/PDIF (optical or coaxial) output ports on modern sound card can pass the sound card's processed headphone surround sound,
thru S/PDIF.

USB bypasses the sound card features.
